According to legend, during the Spring and Autumn Period, there lived a blacksmith couple on the border between Wu and Chu. The man was named Ganjiang and the woman was named Moye. The two of them are masters of forging weapons. The weapons they forged are so sharp that they can cut iron like clay.
One day, the king of Chu from the neighboring country of Chu ordered his people to find Gan Jiang, showed him a piece of dark stone and iron, and wanted him to forge a sword for him.
The general took the stone iron respectfully, looked at it carefully, and said with an ugly face: "Your Majesty, this iron is an ominous thing. I am afraid that no one can control the sword that was forged."
After hearing this, the King of Chu was displeased and said angrily: "Is there anything that I can't control?" After that, he ordered his men to cut off the general's feet and ordered him to forge a sword within three months.
The general was dragged back home by the soldiers of Chu State, and was surrounded by heavy soldiers of Chu State. The general did not dare to neglect, and hurriedly showed the dark stone iron to his wife Moye.
Mo Xie looked at the stone iron carefully, his face changed greatly, and he lamented: "If this sword is really made, I'm afraid the world will be in chaos." However, looking at her husband's legs that were chopped off, he couldn't disobey the king's order.
So the couple set up a huge furnace together, installed the bellows, and threw the black iron into the blazing fire. In this way, the couple worked nervously beside the stove for three months.
Just at noon on the day when the sword was about to be released from the furnace, the sky suddenly became covered with dark clouds and the sky changed drastically. The molten iron in the furnace gradually condensed and took shape as if it was alive. Moye stepped on the edge of the furnace and looked down, secretly saying: "Since the world has suffered this disaster because of me, I will transform into a sword spirit to protect the common people." After that, he jumped into the molten iron.
