The author's writing is incompetent, and it's just a story about a man and a dog who break up and get back together and end up happily together.
There is no cruelty in this story, the whole story is sweet, and the male protagonist has a dirty history. Readers are advised to be careful before entering, and don't enter if you don't like it.
