I think this ending is pretty good and more reasonable. After all, because of Voldemort, Harry lost his parents who loved him deeply and his godfather who loved him. He had to grow up in a home with aunts and uncles who hated him and abused him. He had to bear tremendous pressure. Not only did he live as a monster in the Dursley family for eleven years (and he had to go back every summer), he was also a "" in the wizarding world Monster", because he is the "Boy-Who-Lived", he "defeated" the "mysterious man", and cannot live a smooth life at Hogwarts every year. There will always be one thing or another that disrupts his life. Although there are teachers who take care of him, and friends who are more affectionate than gold, wouldn't he be without Voldemort? Moreover, I have been being calculated and arranged all the time. No matter what the reason for this calculation or arrangement is, personally speaking, it doesn't feel very good. Of course, Harry and Tom's situations are somewhat similar, especially when they were young. It's normal for two people to be attracted to each other if they didn't encounter those messy things. But similarly, Harry like this was created because of Voldemort. If there was no Voldemort, then Harry would probably be about the same as Ron, or even better, somewhere between Ron and Draco. So I think this ending is normal. It's not that Harry doesn't love Tom, he just can't help but hate him. His hatred prevented him from being with Tom, and his love prevented him from hurting him, so he had no choice but to leave.
