Xiaojing became Empress Borjijit, the daughter of Hualang'a, a member of the Ministry of Justice. She was born in the ninth year of Jiaqing (or possibly the tenth year). She first entered the palace as a concubine of Jing, became a noble concubine in the fourteenth year, and became an imperial concubine in the twentieth year. On July 1, the fifth year of Xianfeng's reign, she became the Empress Dowager Kangci. She died on July 9 at the age of 44.

In the early Xianfeng period, her posthumous title was: Xiaojing, Kangci, Bitian and Fusheng Queen, which was neither the posthumous title of Xuanzong nor the temple.
