It is adapted from the Tang legendary novel created by Bai Xingjian, a Tang Dynasty author.
It describes the story of Zheng Sheng, the son of Xingyang, who went to Chang'an to take an examination. He fell in love with the famous prostitute Li Wa at Ping'an. Later, he ran out of money and was expelled by the madam. He wandered into dangerous places and supported himself by singing dirges. In the elegy competition on Tianmen Street, Zheng Sheng defeated the Western restaurant for his Dongsi restaurant with a moving and emotional performance, but was recognized by his father who had gone to Beijing to make a fortune. His father disgraced the family because of him, severed the father-son relationship with him, and abandoned him. After being rescued by Jisi's peers, Zheng Sheng saved his life, but became a beggar. On a snowy night, Zheng Sheng went to the east gate of Anyi to beg and was recognized by Li Wa. After being cared for by Li Wa, Zheng Sheng recovered from health, passed the imperial examination, became an official, and married Li Wa. Li Wa was named the Lady of Qian State, and Zheng Sheng reconciled with his father.
