Excerpt:
The autumn wind blew slowly, and the moon in the sky was big and round, reflecting in the water like a jade plate. Gu Xiaoliu picked up a small stone and threw it into the water. With a "pop", the "jade plate" broke into two or three pieces. After a ripple, it returned to its original state.
Gu Xiaoliu turned around, looked at his master who was reclining on a tree, drinking wine and admiring the moon, and asked: "Isn't this the Mid-Autumn Festival in the mortal world? Master, you said that when flowers bloom and the moon is full, people reunite. Whenever the moon is at its fullest, it is the reunion festival in the world."
The old man with a white beard, who was called Master, held the wine bottle, took a sip of wine, narrowed his eyes and said with a smile: "Is my Xiaoliu missing your relatives?"
Gu Xiaoliu shook his head, "Xiaoliu has no father or mother. Master picked me up, named me, and taught me spells. Master is my relative."
The old man smiled again, "Then why do you look so depressed?"
"Really?" Gu Xiaoliu raised his hand and knocked on his face, making a crunching sound as bones collided with each other. "Xiao Liu is just a white skeleton without flesh and blood. He doesn't laugh or cry like Master. How did you tell that I was in a bad mood?"
"Who said Xiaoliu can't laugh? Aren't you laughing happily when you pulled the boss's feathers, pulled the tail of the mistress, and secretly took my master's elixir?" The old man joked, "Come on, smile for me."
"Master only knows how to laugh at me." Gu Xiaoliu complained, but he grinned obediently, showing a skull-like smile.
"Silly boy, hahaha - burp -"
Hearty laughter echoed throughout the valley, and soon there were bursts of snoring. Gu Xiaoliu shook his head and sighed: "Alas, Master is drunk again."
