Folklore says that in ancient times there was a sacred sycamore tree that grew on the top of a mountain. This sycamore tree gathered the spiritual energy of heaven and earth and attracted the mythical beast Phoenix to live in the tree. Suddenly one day, the phoenix nirvana, reborn from the fire, and then ascended to become a god, while the sycamore tree was burned by the fire and turned into a piece of charcoal. The phoenix circled the sacred sycamore tree and screamed for three days and three nights, its sound shook the world, and the world thought it was strange. This incident alarmed the water god Yunmeng, who took the water from the source to fertilize it and could barely save the life of the phoenix tree. The Phoenix then took the Wutong tree and planted it in the Immortal Palace, and took care of it with all its heart. Thousands of years later, the Wutong tree turned into a human form. However, because the fire burned away the affection, it never understood love and hatred. The Emperor of Heaven ordered Wutong to descend to the earth to understand people's life, old age, illness and death, so Wutong wrote the book "Strange Stories".
