From 907 AD to 960 AD, after the fall of the Tang Dynasty, Chinese history entered the Five Dynasties and Ten Kingdoms period, which was as chaotic as the Spring and Autumn Period. The world is in chaos, and so are the rivers and lakes. The story takes place during this period.
