This article is inspired by the author's best friend's account of some of the days she spent in Beijing. It may seem ordinary and scattered, but it is the most real life that most Beijing youths spend every day. The author also lived in Beijing and Shanghai for a period of time respectively. He also squeezed into the subway, went to the vegetable market, and watched anime in a group house. He also sang karaoke on weekends and gathered with colleagues to kill the Three Kingdoms. All these days have passed smoothly. Now I selfishly want to bring these fragments of life together in memories and become more romantic, so I wrote this article.
Zichen (pseudonym) told me that she hates the terms "Beijing drifter" and "empty-nest youth". She feels that Beijing is what she likes, she does what she likes, and the people she loves are by her side, so she doesn't feel drifting. As for the word "empty-nest", she told me that she would rather be called a young person living alone, which makes her seem less desolate and lonely.
