This is the real-life experience of James Maskalyk, an international doctor from Médecins Sans Frontières, in Sudan. One day in a certain month, I accidentally discovered such a shocking emotional diary. With the permission of Dr. James, I translated this blog into Chinese, hoping that the Chinese audience can understand the work of Doctors Without Borders, the pain of Darfur, and the simplest beauty of the people living under the sun. Please forgive me if the translation is not good.
James Maskalyk is an emergency room physician. When he is not involved in international MSF missions, Dr. James works and lives in Toronto, Canada. Currently, he is stationed in Abyei, a hospital on the edge of North and South Sudan. This was his first international MSF mission.
Sudan has been experiencing constant civil strife and wars in recent years, resulting in numerous casualties. As you read this story, the people in Darfur, Sudan, are suffering under 50-degree heat, helpless war, and ruthless diseases. If this story can move you, please occasionally think of these people and their suffering.
Every struggle, every victory, and every death in this story is the birth, old age, illness, and death of a living, or once living, person.
