Humans are no longer at the top of the food chain. Huge, powerful, and highly capable of reproducing, giant mantis shrimps feed on humans and spread deadly diseases; young women are extremely susceptible to the disease, and their numbers have dropped sharply, putting human reproduction in jeopardy.
The massive expansion of the giant mantis shrimp's habitat has caused serious damage to the earth's ecosystem, making it no longer suitable for human survival. The survivors establish small colonies to defend themselves against mantis shrimp attacks.

After the countless battles between humans and mantis shrimps for survival failed, there is little hope for the total number of humans to recover. People's distrust of the Speaker and the Parliament began to sprout.
