In the autumn of 1944, the Japanese army launched a massive attack on Changsha and Hengyang, and then captured Guilin and Liuzhou. Then a force was detached and marched along the Guizhou-Guizhou Railway towards the border of Guizhou. On December 2, Libo, Sandu, Danzhai, Dushan and other county towns fell one after another, and a small group of Japanese troops also broke into Maocaoping in Duyun County. On the evening of December 4, Japanese troops from all walks of life retreated one after another. On December 10, all of them withdrew from the province. The short period of half a month from November 26 to December 10 caused unprecedented disasters in the southern Guizhou region: how many soldiers and civilians were killed, how many women were insulted, how many houses were burned down, how many public and private properties were damaged, and how many roads and bridges were blown up. Especially the hundreds of thousands of refugees who fled from other provinces into Guizhou, their wives and children were separated, their families were destroyed, and countless people died of freezing, starvation, illness, or being killed. This historical event is called the "Qiannan Incident".
