During the Three Kingdoms period, there was a doctor named Dong Feng in the State of Wu who lived in Lushan. He treats people all year round but does not accept payment from others. When he cured a person who was seriously ill, he asked the patient to plant five apricot trees; when he cured a person who was not seriously ill, he asked the patient to plant an apricot tree. After more than ten years of this, there were more than 100,000 apricot trees. When spring came, Dong Feng looked at the apricot forest, which looked like a green ocean. He felt very relieved, so he built a thatched house in the forest and lived in it. When the apricots were ripe, he said to people, "Whoever wants to buy apricots does not need to tell me. Just put a pot of rice into my rice warehouse and you can fill a pot of apricots." Dong Feng also used the rice exchanged for apricots to help poor farmers. Later, people built the Apricot Altar, Immortal Altar and Baoxian Altar in Dong Feng's hermitage to commemorate Dong Feng.
