Europe is located in the northwest of the Eastern Hemisphere, bordering the Arctic Ocean to the north, the Atlantic Ocean to the west, facing Africa across the Mediterranean Sea to the south, and connected to the Asian continent to the east. Europe covers an area of 10.1 Million square kilometers (including affiliated islands), accounting for only 6.8% Of the world's total land area. If we look at the areas suitable for human habitation, Europe only accounts for 1/12 of the habitable area of the earth. However, Europe has a population of about 800 million (1985), accounting for about 16% of the world's total population. These include more than 160 ethnic groups.
