They are a group of leukemia patients, and I can get along with them day and night because my father is also one of them. During the days when I accompanied my father, I witnessed the living conditions of these patients in the face of death. Some were hoping for a miracle in despair, some learned to be strong in helplessness, and some concealed their sadness in forced smiles.
Leukemia is one of the top ten problems in the world's medical community. Although some people have never relapsed after years of treatment and are still living a good life, this disease still makes many patients desperate and painful, and makes many patients' families helpless and sad.
Since my father was diagnosed with leukemia, we have witnessed with our own eyes an old man's desire for life, helplessness and despair about his illness. During this period, my family went through contradictory and painful choices in the face of helplessness, whether to choose treatment and what kind of treatment method to adopt. In the end, they painfully accepted the fact that my father had passed away.
Now, ten years have passed since my father passed away. Looking back on those days, I still cry sadly. On the occasion of Qingming Festival, I decided to write down my experience of more than 150 days, as well as the thoughts, thoughts, and actions of the patients and their families who were treated with my father. The purpose is to commemorate those who have passed away in this way, and at the same time help those patients who are struggling to receive treatment. I hope that leukemia patients and their families will build up the confidence to fight against the disease.
