In the sixth year of Zhaoyuan, there was a marriage between Chu and Qi. The emperor was supposed to marry Princess Hexiu, the legitimate daughter of King Xin of Southern Chu. However, the Emperor of Qi was young, the Empress Dowager Meng Chen was behind the curtain, and King Hui Meng Xu was in charge of the government. Therefore, Empress Dowager Chen ordered the king to marry Princess Hexiu on behalf of the emperor, and went to Jiangcheng County to marry Princess Hexiu.
In April of the seventh year of Zhaoyuan, Princess Hexiu married the Prince Regent and became Princess Hui. She was called Princess Xin Yuan in Qi history.
In May of the eighth year of Zhaoyuan, She Ju, the younger brother of Emperor Chu's master, was imprisoned in Qi. The following month, the Chu army led troops to Jiangcheng County.
