"Youth Trilogy" consists of three novels: "Black Flower", "Urban Dusk", and "Under the Starry Sky of Tengger". "Black Flower" reproduces the living conditions and spiritual world of young people at the bottom of the city's society in the ten years from the beginning of China's anti-rightist movement in 1957 to the outbreak of the 1966 riots. "Twilight in the City" reveals the historical destiny and tragic course of the urban intellectual youth in the ten years from 1966 to 1976. "Under the Starry Sky of Tengger" depicts the ten years of reform and opening up from 1976 to 1986, in which urban unemployed youths worked hard to start a business and forge ahead against the background of tremendous social changes, as well as the mutation, distortion and return of human nature under the impact of the commodity tide. Through thirty years of time and space transformation and reflections on the fate of three generations of youth, the work shows the writer's concern, expectation and passionate love for Chinese youth.
