Hogwarts is a world-famous university, but it is more famous for its "no wizards" rule than for its academics.
Since its establishment, it has become the most desirable university for non-wizards and has continuously trained many non-wizard talents for the world.
This school was co-founded by Godric Gryffindor, Salazar Slytherin, Rowena Ravenclaw, and Helga Hufflepuff (known as the "Big Four" in history) in the Middle Ages when non-wizards were most severely persecuted by wizards.
The four dormitories built around the main teaching area are named after the four surnames. Students in each dormitory area also tend to call themselves and others by the name of the dormitory area. For example, students who live in Gryffindor tend to call themselves Gryffindor rather than "Gryffindor".
The Big Four once called the school private, belonging to them and their descendants.
However, the Gaunt family, the only surviving descendant of Slytherin, is its nominal owner and is actually close to independence.
Its unique system of joint management by 12 directors is almost in name only, and the current 12 directors only have the right to nominate candidates for president.
Since former principal Armando Dippet appointed Albus Dumbledore as the first principal, in addition to the original School of Philosophy, School of Economics and Management, School of Law, School of Liberal Arts, School of History, School of Science, School of Engineering, School of Agriculture, School of Medicine, School of Art, and Military Academy, a new School of Education has been added, and wizards have begun to be recruited in this college.
