At the end of the Ming Dynasty and the beginning of the Qing Dynasty, the Chongzhen family of the Ming Dynasty was destroyed. The fourth son Zhu Cizheng and the fifth son Zhu Cihuan survived. The protagonist Xiao Lang in Zhu Cizheng's novel came to Wushan Village when the Qing soldiers were chasing him. He was rescued by Zhen'er, a beautiful girl in the village, and the two fell in love.
