Carrying a bag on one shoulder and walking along the edge of the African Sahara Desert described in San Mao's paintings was an ideal of my youth. Years have passed, and the dull life and trivial and heavy work have gradually eliminated the passion of youth. When the romantic ideal of my youth gradually became childish and unrealistic, by chance, I came to work as a medical aid team member in the Republic of Niger, a landlocked country on the southern edge of the Sahara Desert in Africa. I carried out medical assistance activities to save lives and heal the wounded, thus starting the most unforgettable journey in my life.
