Movie background introduction: At the beginning of a new century, the country is on the verge of collapse, the unemployment rate exceeds 15%, and the unemployed population exceeds 10 million. Teenagers have completely lost confidence in society and adults, and student riots are frequent. In response to this situation, the National Education Bureau passed a new law, which is to select a class every year and put all the teenagers in the class on an isolated island, letting them kill each other and only one person is allowed to survive. In order to let young people understand the extreme cruelty of society and the huge survival pressure of adults, the law is called the "New Century Education Law", or the BR Law for short.
