After Melkor was trapped and Sauron hid for more than a thousand years, he appeared in a benevolent image and named himself Anatar. He helped the elves of Irejan to forge nineteen rings of power. However, he secretly forged a powerful ring in Mordor. That ring is the Supreme Ring that can rule all the rings in the world.
In the end, the war failed, Sauron lost his beautiful body, returned to Mordor with the Supreme Lord of the Rings, and disappeared.
At the same time, Orifel died in battle, Thranduil became king, and retreated to the Great Greenwood (Dark Forest) with the remaining elves (mostly Silvan elves).
End of the Second Age.
The Third Age is the story of the Hobbit, so I won't explain them one by one.
