Second, the character "Maple" in Rukawa Kaede was not included in the 1,850 limited Chinese characters for names announced by Japan in 1946, but did not appear until the 92 Chinese characters for names were added in the late 1980s. So counting 16 years forward from 1990 when "Slam Dunk" was released, the year Rukawa Kaede was born, the word "Kaede" obviously cannot be used as a person's name. Rukawa Kaede must have changed his name. So, what was his original name? Why change the name?
