The battle with the enemy outside the castle that night was completely unexpected. The enemy seemed to have a complete grasp of our army's movements and strategies, and we suffered great damage. This was the most difficult bloody battle I have ever seen.
I led the remaining troops, staggering and embarrassed, back to the castle, stepping on the corpses all over the ground.
Back in the city, I dragged my exhausted body and kept walking around in the army, settling the injured soldiers and checking the surrounding situation.
When I was looking at the list of those killed in battle, I actually saw my adjutant's name at the top of the list.
