One summer, there was a flood in the south. It flooded the whole village, a man stood on the roof, and a rower passed by.
Asked if he wanted to get on the boat, he shook his head and refused. He said he would wait for Jesus to rescue him. The people on the boat looked at him and left.
A few hours later, another person came and asked him like the first time if he wanted to leave with him. The man still shook his head stubbornly and told passers-by that he would wait for Jesus to save him. Passers-by looked at him, sighed and left.
Time passed little by little, but in fact, as the people on the roof thought, Jesus did not appear. Hunger and fatigue hit him together, and his vision began to blur. He felt like he couldn't hold on any longer.
At this time, a voice came over, "Do you want to get on the boat?" He opened his eyes and looked, and there was a man standing on the boat looking at him with concern.
He smiled reluctantly, "No, I have to wait for the great Jesus to save me."
"But..." The man looked at him anxiously and wanted to say something, but he still shook his head and refused.
The man couldn't hold on to him and left helplessly.
Death was approaching him little by little, and hunger and fatigue had long tortured him to the point of unconsciousness, but until the last moment of his life, he still believed that Jesus would not abandon him. Finally, he closed his eyes in despair.
After he died, his soul ran to heaven and asked Jesus: "Why don't you save me? I believe in you so much, I always thought you would come to save me!"
Jesus sighed and said, "My child, I have given you three chances. Those three people were the ones I sent to rescue you, but you refused again and again. It's not that I gave up on you, but that you gave up the three opportunities I gave you."
