Fukang'an, courtesy name Yaolin, Fucha clan, was born in the Xianghuang Banner of Manchuria in the Qing Dynasty. The nephew of Empress Xiaoxian, Emperor Gaozong of the Qing Dynasty, and Fu Hengzi, a great scholar.
Emperor Qianlong saw in him the shadows of his deceased legitimate son Duanhui Crown Prince Yonglian and the seventh emperor Yongcong.
Emperor Qianlong remembered his beloved wife and son, so he brought Fucha's nephew into the palace to educate him personally, treating him like his own son for comfort.
After Fukang'an grew up, Qianlong entrusted him with important responsibilities. He was granted the title of Beizi during his lifetime and given to the prince after his death, making him the most favored minister in his generation.
