One day in ancient times, Taishang Laojun accidentally came down to earth and saw a red chick caught by a goshawk. Seeing its pity, he drove away the goshawk and rescued the chick. He took it back to Tushita Gong and raised it. When the beast was thirsty, it drank water from the medicinal herbs, and when hungry, it fed on elixirs. After thousands of years of cultivation, it became a spirit monster with four heads and eight eyes, invulnerable to weapons and bullets, and a fiery red body called a red bird. One day, he broke free from his restraints and went down to earth to cause trouble, causing chaos in the world. The Jade Emperor was furious and ordered Taishang Laojun to capture Red Bird and punish him with death to prevent him from causing trouble again. Because of its invulnerability, Taishang Laojun could only throw it into the Bagua furnace. Three days later, the red bird turned into four golden elixirs.
Three hundred years later, Monkey King, the Monkey King, caused havoc in the Heavenly Palace. Four golden elixirs fell into the mortal world and turned into embryos of immortals, demons, and humans. Taishang Laojun was afraid that the four golden elixirs would fuse again and the red bird's rebirth would cause chaos. He summoned the immortal elder Xilin Mu and ordered him to find people with red bird birthmarks and hand them over to Laojun.
