When the Lord God created the heavens and the earth,
There was no vegetation on the ground yet, and no vegetables grew in the fields. For the Lord God has not yet caused rain to fall on the earth, and there is no one to plow the land;
Only water rising from the ground soaks all the ground.
The Lord God formed man from the dust of the ground, breathed life into his nostrils, and man became a living creature.
The Lord God created a paradise east of Eden and placed in it the man whom he had formed.
The Lord God caused the earth to bring forth all kinds of fruit trees, good to look at and good to eat. The tree of life and the tree of the knowledge of good and evil were in the center of Paradise.
The Lord God placed man in the Garden of Eden to work it and to keep it.
The Lord God gave this command to man:
"You may eat from every tree in Paradise;
You are not allowed to eat from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, because any day you eat from it, you will surely die. "
