After the fall of the Northern Song Dynasty, the Southern Song Dynasty was established. Faced with the iron horse of the Jin Kingdom in the north, Song Gaozong Zhao Gou and the treacherous prime minister Qin Hui blindly compromised and surrendered. They signed the humiliating surrender "Shaoxing Peace Treaty" with the Jin Kingdom and paid tribute to the Jin Kingdom in order to gain a corner of peace. They persecuted and attacked the anti-Jin Kingdom generals and loyal ministers and good generals, causing harm to the country and the people.
Originally the seventh-generation grandson of Song Taizu, a little-known child, Zhao Bocong, became the adopted son of Song Gaozong Zhao Gou by some mistake. Therefore, he received the best education since he was a child. When he grew up, he was deeply loved and valued by Song Gaozong. After going through many hardships and tests, and walking on the edge of life and death several times, he finally helped Song Gaozong eliminate Qin Hui and his party members, and inherited the throne of emperor, known as Song Xiaozong Zhao Jin.
When he was in power, he rehabilitated Yue Fei, rectified the officialdom, actively prepared for the Northern Expedition, and recovered lost territory. He was the leader of the revival of the Southern Song Dynasty. However, God failed to fulfill his wish, and he could not realize his lofty ambition to restore the Central Plains. His former vigor gradually wore away, and he became increasingly depressed. Eventually, he died alone, crying in Chonghua Palace, leaving behind endless regrets and sighs.
