Half a hundred miles east of Xianyang City, there is a mausoleum named An, which is shaped like an overturned bucket and covers the tomb of Liu Ying, Emperor Hui of the Han Dynasty. There is a small hill to the northwest of the tomb. There is luxuriant grass on the hill. There is no seal or monument. When I asked the locals, they said it was the tomb of Zhang Yan, the queen of Emperor Hui.
Zhang Shiyan, the niece of Emperor Hui, was betrothed by Empress Lu and married to Emperor Hui. In the seventh year of Emperor Hui's reign, the emperor died in Weiyang Palace. In another eight years, the Lu family was destroyed, and the Zhang family moved to Beigong and died alone. When he was buried, the palace attendants purified him as if he were a virgin. The villagers mourned him and respected him as the flower god.
It's a pity that Zhang Yan was so virtuous throughout her life that she was alone and her flowers bloomed without fruit. Therefore, I wrote this article to fulfill his unfulfilled wish that day, to fulfill his unfulfilled feelings, and to comfort his soul.
