The first time Connor saw him was on a rainy morning.
The sound of rain hitting the roof of the car was like an earthquake, hitting Connor's face coldly through the cracks in the window. His heart was heavy, and Smecker's face was also gloomy, and he sat steadily beside him. The car stopped at the entrance of the alley, where several nearby residents holding umbrellas gathered around. Someone hurried over and held up an umbrella by the car door, and Smecker got out. Connor could only stand in the rain. He put his collar up and curled up his neck to get out of the car. In an instant, the cold wind mixed with raindrops hit him, freezing to the bone. Connor cursed in his mind, cursing the sudden heavy rain, and pushed through the crowd and walked inside.
