The first person to speak for him like this was Lily Evans, his first friend and the only girl he ever loved. After being humiliated by James Potter and his friends, he ended his friendship with Lily by saying "Mudblood". Then he could only watch from a distance as she became Mrs. Potter.
The second person to speak for him in this way was Albus Dumbledore, the greatest white wizard of our time and the headmaster of Hogwarts. He knelt before Dumbledore and said he would do anything for him, as long as it would keep Lily Potter alive. After her death, Dumbledore asked him to live for Harry Potter.
The third person who spoke for him in this way was Coriana Sterling, an 11-year-old witch who was about to enter Hawkwarts. He had just told her in a very impatient tone that she could not get into Slytherin House if she wanted to, and as the dean, he could clearly say that she did not have the qualities to become a Slytherin at all.
