In the summer of Showa 37, I came to this dilapidated ruins after hearing that the ruins were haunted. The collapsed walls were covered with grass. I looked up at the three huge locust trees in front of me. They were so lush and dense that they seemed a bit eerie at night. The night wind blew through the branches and leaves, making a cry-like sound. The locust tree attracts ghosts and can also calm souls.
In a daze, I saw two cranes, and when I looked closer, I saw two children again, with a tuft of red hair neatly combed back from their foreheads. They wore white and black robes, and the brocade robes were exquisite and seamless. From the depths of the ruins came a young man with white hair and a childish face. The two children ran over laughing, and one of them turned into a red-crowned crane, and the young man held it in his arms. I followed them into the ruined house, passed through the weeds half a person's height, and they came to a clearing. In the middle of the clearing was an old well, covered with moss. The young man stopped in front of the old well. He stood there for a long time, eyes half lowered.
The young man's white robe was dragging on the ground, and the clothes seemed to emit a faint light. His exquisite face made him so beautiful that he was beyond mortal. Does he yearn for the ruins of this centuries-old palace? Finally, he raised his head and looked at the star-studded sky. For a moment, the universe seemed to be rotating around him.
Glittering light spots flew out of the ancient well, surrounding the young man for a long time.
What the young man was chanting was a rebirth mantra.
