The SARS epidemic that broke out at the turn of the spring and summer of 2003 plunged T City, a large northern city, into an unprecedented disaster. Yan'an Hospital accepted the task and became the designated hospital for SARS reception. For more than two months after that, the hospital fell into dire straits. More than 20 medical technicians were infected, and two of them died.
The three protagonists working in this hospital have experienced the baptism of blood and fire, the test of life and death, as well as the desire for family affection and the pursuit of love.
The story is based on the work, life, and love of the medical staff in my hospital during the SARS period. I worked in the red zone for nearly 30 days during the SARS period. The department where Xiaoqing, Mei Ling, and Yiru worked was almost a complete description of the department where I worked! None of us escaped at that time, nor did we make any excuses in the media. We just felt that we were nurses and doctors, and it was our duty! Since you have chosen this profession, you must be worthy of your patients and your own conscience!
