Chapter 1: Singing while Drinking: The Geometry of Life
Section 1: Desert Smoke
In the desert, the sun sets in the west, and a solitary smoke rises into the sky.
The gentle breeze caressed the grass, and herds of cattle and sheep ran, driven by shepherds.
A handsome young man was fiddling with the bonfire, and a sturdy Hummer was parked next to him.
"Hey, Brother Yan, don't you appreciate this vast grassland?"
A burly man with messy hair and a beard was coming from behind a small grassy slope. He was shouting as he walked, extremely excited.
Liu Yayan handed him a bottle of wine: "Xiaoqiang, how many years have you been following me?"
Wang Qiang drank a few mouthfuls, lay comfortably on the soft grass, and thought for a while: "It must have been 12 years."
"How many 12 years are there in life? Look at this grassland, which is endless as far as the eye can see. In quite a few years, Genghis Khan, a generation of prodigies, marched to the end of the world. Under the lush green grass, the piles of bones are probably higher than the mountains. One will make all the bones dry!"
"Genghis Khan was a great leader throughout his life, accomplished great things, and left his name in history. In my life, it is enough for me to have one percent of his achievements!"
"Are honor and status really that important? Running happily and freely like this cow and sheep, isn't it just as happy?"
"However, what awaits them is ruthless slaughter. This is true for animals, and it is the same for humans."
