Ashiya Shisuke, a folk onmyoji, picked up a baby wrapped in burlap in Kusama of Rakutō during his travels. When he saw that the baby's eyes were dull, he knew that the baby had an eye disease and was deliberately abandoned by his parents. In that chaotic era, adults did not have enough to eat, let alone a baby who still had eye disease and was waiting to be fed.
