This is the story of vampires and paladins, but the tragic war has ended many years ago. The overhead background and detailed settings refer to Europe in the middle and late Middle Ages and the 13th and 14th centuries. The protagonist comes from another story by the author, "Requiem for Nazirite", but the two texts are completely independent, pointing to the Old Testament and the New Testament respectively, representing the Age of Law and the Age of Grace.
