Shen Yuning is the youngest female inspector in Hong Kong City’s Major Crimes Unit, rational to the point of seeming cold. Forensic pathologist Gu Xingmi arrives in her jurisdiction with a carefree air and becomes the unit’s forensic partner. As the two work seamlessly together on a string of “couples’ murders,” Shen Yuning gradually realizes that her interest in Gu Xingmi has crossed professional boundaries. Gu Xingmi has known all along, but chooses to pretend otherwise. Just as they both realize how they feel about each other, a serial killer begins designing the ultimate “perfect crime,” using their relationship as a blueprint. Investigating, testing each other, yielding, drawing closer: they are each other’s weakness, and each other’s only armor.
Theme: Amid a tangled series of crimes, the story searches for the truth, portraying the professional convictions and sense of responsibility of female police officers and forensic workers, while exploring the power of trust and redemption.
