As a lay practitioner, Yue Tiao happens to cross paths again with his mentor, Lord Qingshan. An unexpected turn of events brings back memories of their past lives. Unwilling to disrupt Yue Tiao’s cultivation in this life, Lord Qingshan avoids him, and they lose touch. Yue Tiao continues his journey as a lay disciple, but through the many tasks he undertakes, he gradually comes to understand the full extent of his past-life connection with Lord Qingshan. It turns out Yue Tiao has shared at least two past lives with Lord Qingshan, both of them undergoing trials in the mortal world.
