Gu Fusheng thought his life had gone pretty smoothly, but that very smoothness left him utterly bored.
As a boy, he was always looking for ways to have fun. As a young man, he devised a plan to “stand up for justice,” shedding blood and tears and spending every last bit of his savings to see it through.
During the plan, he treated his best friend like a pawn, mistook humiliation for kindness and trampling for a favor. He used him recklessly, ignoring his feelings and not caring whether he was safe. Only when the other person told him to stop pretending did he realize he wasn't as carefree and heartless as he had imagined.
“Ever since I met you, my smooth-sailing life seems to have hit a snag.”
