Cheng Xi died alongside his enemies, carrying one of Tang San's Buddha's Fury Tang Lotus. After he was reborn in Douluo Dalu, he first took Yu Xiaogang as his master, hoping to find a solution to the shortened lifespan caused by his Martial Soul Mutation. Instead, he made Yu Xiaogang leave Nuoding Academy early, and obtained a Villain System of his own.

By completing villain missions, Cheng Xi levels up quickly and saves his own life, but he also throws the main storyline at Nuoding Academy into chaos.
He helps Xiao Wu become fully human, escape her fears, grow independent and strong, and rediscover her original purpose, while setting her on Tang San's original path as a control-type Soul Master.
He leaves Tang San loving and hating him at once, lucidly losing himself in Cheng Xi's tenderness, and turns him into a control-focused Soul Master who specializes in hidden weapons, in the Tang Sect's distinctive style.
Two years later, the proud and radiant Cheng Xi becomes a prisoner for reasons beyond his control. After Tang San takes him away, Cheng Xi becomes the one thing Tang San cannot bear to have touched. With Tang San's attentive care, Cheng Xi gradually comes to love him, but because of the Villain System and the flaws in his Martial Soul, he never takes the initiative to confess.
Later, after Cheng Xi resolves the Villain System and his Martial Soul's flaws, and Tang San understands his own feelings, they officially get together. Together, they take revenge, cultivate, and ascend to the pinnacle of the world.
