Shi Ji accidentally arrives in the 1990s, with her life forcibly bound to a little child.
To stay alive, Shi Ji tracks down the child's uncle, real estate tycoon Xu Zhixing. But to her surprise, he turns her away on the very first day.
She knocks again, and he refuses again. She knocks again, and he refuses again...
A few days later, Xu Zhixing sees his nephew digging through a trash can and rushes over in anger.
“Where's the person who brought you here?”
“Over there.”
Following He Wei's pointing finger, he spots someone else squirming around in a trash can.
Xu Zhixing yanks her out and, fighting the stench, grits out, “What are you doing?”
“Isn't it obvious? Looking for dinner.” Shi Ji lifts the half-eaten steamed bun in her hand.
“You're letting the child eat garbage with you?!”
“It's fine. He won't have to do it for long. I've found him a good family.”
That very night, Xu Zhixing takes them both home.

Xu Zhixing watches Shi Ji argue her case with the construction company, budget and estimates in hand, and falls into deep thought.
She looks kind of cute when she's working seriously.
No! She's incredibly cute!
That mouth moving as she speaks, the slight furrow in her brow, her cheeks flushed with emotion...
“Is there something you want to tell me?” After everyone else leaves, Shi Ji walks over to Xu Zhixing. “You've been staring at me this whole time.”
Thinking about what had been on his mind, Xu Zhixing blushes slightly for once and is about to say something when Shi Ji beats him to it.
“Did you see how well I did at work just now and decide to give me a raise?!!!”
Xu Zhixing swallows his words and says crossly, “Hmph. I asked you yesterday for the cost analysis report on the villa project, and I still haven't received it. Work overtime tonight and get it done.”
Good grief, getting exploited all the way from the twenty-first century to the 1990s. I can't work in this industry anymore!!!
What Xu Zhixing doesn't know is that Shi Ji's cheeks were red not because of anyone else, but because his gaze was far too direct.
