Three years ago, Chi Yu and Wen Ji signed their divorce papers. The formalities took just ten minutes, but the unspoken goodbye between them remained unfinished even after three years.
Three years later, the hugely popular actress Chi Yu signs on for the romance reality show Reignite the Spark to shake off the public backlash over her “diva behavior.” On the night she arrives on set, she sees the third name on the guest list: Wen Ji.
The production team thinks they’re just old acquaintances who once worked together, and asks them to “fall in love all over again in front of the entire nation.”
So the ex-wives start pretending they don’t know each other.
It’s exhausting, and they’re terrible at it. Wen Ji instinctively shields Chi Yu from every awkward moment, while Chi Yu remembers how Wen Ji bites the cap of her pen when writing songs. What kind of “old acquaintances” know which way the other turns first when she can’t sleep?
As the show’s challenges unfold, their past is gradually laid bare. Why did she miss the last day of their divorce cooling-off period? Why has the secret-identity singer “Shiye,” who has released one song every month for three years, written every song for “Y”? And what sacrifice lay behind the divorce neither of them ever explained, a sacrifice neither of them had ever been asked about?
This is a story of “I never dared to give it back” and “This time, I’ll be the one to speak first.”
A second chance at love, happy ending, dual perspectives, two strong leads, and no third party breaking them up. The angst is slow-burning, and there’s plenty of sweetness. They’ll use the time they have on a reality show to say everything they left unsaid.
