This is not a novel. This is every face I have seen in Vancouver, every scene I have experienced, the class and desire that cannot be bypassed - peel off the skin and spread it out on the table for you to see.
Their pain is real, their entanglement is real, their ambiguity is real, and their cowardice is real. I am an international student, and what I write about is the rich second generation that I have seen with my own eyes: how they spend money, how they love others, how they fill the emptiest holes with the most expensive things, and how they twist each other's lives into a whirlpool that no one can escape from.
Ruby is expensive. But it's formed from the high temperatures and pressures deep underground - just like us, the brighter the surface, the deeper it burns. It doesn't break easily, but it shouts.
That sound you hear is "Screaming Ruby."
Concept: In the glitzy world of studying abroad, the love of the rich second generation seems to be built with money, but in fact every relationship burns their sincerity and vulnerability. Money can buy gifts, ostentation, and companionship, but it cannot buy true security or salvation. No matter how bright the surface is, there are holes and struggles underneath.
