Before the Kuroshio broke out, Lin Zhimian resigned from his job and bought an abandoned lighthouse on an offshore island.
Her original plan was simple: stock up on water, stock up on medicine, fix a generator, lock the door, and preferably have no neighbors.
On the day the end truly came, her first neighbor climbed over the fence, covered in blood.
Lin Zhimian raised her gun, but the other party raised her head and called her:
"Little one."
Mingzhuo, an old high school acquaintance who has been missing for twelve years.
She was also the only person who would touch her with bloody hands, and wash her hands honestly because she felt dirty.
Twelve years ago, Mingzhuo didn't say goodbye.
Twelve years later, she re-entered Lin Zhimian's life with a lot of trouble.
Beyond the lighthouse, the city is falling.
The sea water, radio, infected people and the old systems left by humans are all out of control.
Lin Zhimian is responsible for formulating the rules, and Mingzhuo is responsible for repeatedly jumping on the edge of the rules.
They stocked up goods, sealed off the island, observed infections, and looked for water sources. They also gradually included each other in their survival plans during their retreat routes.
Later they discovered that the Kuroshio was far more complicated than "infection".
Some infected people still remember their names, jobs and loved ones.
Some even start making new choices they have never made before.
The old world cannot be restored.
So they decided to change their way of life.
Starting from a lighthouse with only two people, to a new city that truly belongs to the survivors.
Lin Zhimian once hoped that there would be no best neighbor in the world.
Years later, she has neighbors, friends, a wife, and a knock on her door every day.
Purpose: Rebuilding people's right to choose in a disordered world
