--How would you spend the loneliest years of your career?
At the end of Spring Festival, all members of the Karasuno High School Volleyball Club crossed the Sea of Japan and came to Maqiao Middle School in Haidian District, Beijing for a one-year exchange life. They ate, lived and trained together with the local school team, and in this dusty northern city, a bond that spanned ten years was planted.
Ten years later, the teenagers from those years were scattered in every corner of the world. Some people led a South American national team to the podium, some were playing sand volleyball on the beach in Rio under the scorching sun, some were shining on the top stage of Serie A, and some were studying their main opponents at the Zhangzhou training base.
This is a story about volleyball, competition and friendship, and about people who met, separated, and reunited in an era when instant communication was not yet developed.
