Casimir Voss, a twenty-five-year-old young investigative consultant.
He is used to keeping to himself and treating everyone's story as a case that needs to be solved.
That night, the fog was thicker than usual. When he returned from his client's home, his steps were slowed down by the thick fog, and he accidentally walked into the most remote narrow alley.
It was also there that he met her for the first time.
A girl sat in the deepest part of the alley, like an abandoned delicate doll. He had no clothes on his body, and only his thick, ink-like hair spread out to cover his body.
She did not avoid his gaze, but looked straight at him, as clean as a piece of white paper that had never been stained by the world.
Casimir should have turned around and walked away. He knew very well that there was probably trouble hidden behind such a night, such an alley, and such a girl.
But he didn't.
He took her home.
He soon discovered that she was no ordinary girl.
She doesn't understand cold, hunger, shame, or "clothes." She is as fragile as a newborn baby and as dangerous as a newly born beast.
All her reactions were instinctive, and her body would even become translucent inadvertently, like a mist that could disperse at any time.
After half a month of observation, he quickly came to a rational conclusion——
She is not human.
She is a "monster" who does not belong to the human world.
Casimir did not call the police or kick her out. He just silently accepted this fact, and then began to do something that even he thought was ridiculous - he patiently taught her how to dress, eat, speak, and taught her what pain is, what feelings are, and what "people" are like teaching a newborn child.
She learned slowly, but learned everything very seriously. She learned his tone of voice, learned his way of walking, and learned his way of thinking when investigating.
She was like a mist, clumsily growing a human mind in front of him.
It wasn't until one day much later that Casimir suddenly realized that he hadn't observed her as a "case" for a long time.
He watched her learn to laugh for the first time, feel distressed for the first time, and clumsily wrap her arms around him for the first time, and suddenly found that——
What he fell in love with was not her delicate face, nor her inhuman body.
What he fell in love with was the hot, innocent soul that wanted to be close to him in that inhuman body.
He should have been the one who stood in the sun and used logic to maintain his sanity. But now, he is willing to hold her hand and accompany her into the bottomless chaos.
He is willing to go into the abyss with her.
