The thing Zhou Ye regrets most in his life is falling in love with his classmate Song Qingci in his senior year of high school.
Song Qingci is the kind of person who is so quiet that he almost doesn't exist. He doesn't like to talk or make friends. After class, he lies on his desk and sleeps, or wears headphones and looks out the window. The whole class ignored him, except Zhou Ye who tried to be mean by him every day—pulling the cord of his earphones, stealing his bread, and poking his arm with a pen cap. Song Qingci was never angry, she just looked at him and put the headphones back on.
Zhou Ye thought that days like this would continue forever. Until one month before the college entrance examination, Song Qingci did not come to class.
The head teacher said that something happened at home and he would not take the college entrance examination again. Zhou Ye went crazy to find him, went through all the contact information to find his home address, and knocked on the door until his hands were swollen, but no one answered. Neighbors said the family had moved away long ago.
Over the next many years, Zhou Ye developed a habit of wearing a pair of headphones wherever he went. He didn't listen to the music, he just listened, as if he could meet the boy wearing headphones again on a certain street.
But he never encountered it again.
Concept: Youth is not always flamboyant. Some growth is accompanied by sudden loss and long search.
