Lin Ruoxi, 38 years old, was once a psychological counselor with a bright future. After giving birth to her daughter, she originally planned to return to the workplace after taking maternity leave, but due to various reasons, she stepped back from the family step by step and eventually became a stay-at-home mother.
For the first three years, she carefully raised her children with love and patience. From the fourth year onwards, everything changed. She started yelling at her daughter and even hit the child. Every night in the dead of night, I toss and turn in self-blame. Her husband is busy with work and drifting away; the tide of chicken babies is sweeping over her, and she is neither willing to be coerced nor able to resist. The former "Teacher Lin" has become an anxious mother who can't even enlighten herself.
This is a novel about "loss" and "recovery". Ruoxi lost not only her job, but also her sense of self-identity and value. There are no miracles in her redemption - no counterattacks, no epiphanies, just getting up after falling down again and again: seeing a psychiatrist, taking medication, picking up books again to study, healing herself in writing, and using her own experience to help more confused mothers.
The novel presents the real plight of contemporary stay-at-home mothers in a delicate way - the neglected labor, the dissolved value, and the misunderstood contribution. But what it wants to convey more is: even in the deepest darkness, as long as you don't give up, you can always find your way home.
To all the moms out there who are struggling with parenting – you are not alone.
Purpose: Break the myth of the perfect mother, accept imperfection, find yourself in the brokenness, and reconcile with the pain is the way back.
