During a move, documentary director Su Yan dug out a strange relic: an old USB flash drive that was not on the official inventory list and had a cracked shell. Three years ago, her sister Su Shu fell to her death at the site of the popular ancient village cultural tourism project. The official conclusion was that he committed suicide due to depression. There were several lingering doubts in the file, but there was not enough evidence to continue digging deeper. The past has been deliberately sealed away by everyone. Su Yan, who originally went to the ancient village to investigate people's livelihood disputes in rural projects, accidentally stepped into a hidden world under a shiny shell. Under the lively appearance of tourist check-ins, there are undercurrents of work-related injuries and conflicts over land acquisition. But during the visit, she ran into the high wall of silence: an anonymous clue appeared out of thin air, and an unfamiliar virtual number kept throwing out fragments of internal project information, but the other party always hid in the dark and refused to touch the past event of Su Shu's death. The USB flash drive was sent for technical recovery, and only incomplete written records and an audio clip of an argument drowned by noise were recovered. Reading between the lines, one can see how Su Shu's once ardent ideals were bit by bit dissipated by reality. With the help of retired lawyer Xie Yan, Su Yan learned about the regrets left by the case. Su Yan is also trapped in a dilemma between the pain caused by blood ties and the objectivity that must be maintained in documentary work. All the clues are looming, and the truth is close at hand, but it seems to be separated by a wall that cannot be pushed away. No one knows whether the truth will come to light in the end, or whether there will be only echoes that can never be completed.
Intent: The truth will always break through the trade-offs between people and emerge again
